- 1963 – Gerry Leider launches Tropical Plant Rentals in Chicago
- 1975 – Tropical Plant Rentals expands into 20+ markets
- 1988 – Tropical Plant Rentals is sold to Rentokil Initial and is renamed Rentokil Tropical Plant Services
- 2003 – Rentokil Tropical Plant Services is renamed Initial Tropical Plants
- 2008 – Initial Tropical Plants is re-branded to Plant Care in 14 countries
